The kinds of questions, and what each answer does
Every question Taxably asks names the document, what it found and why it is asking. Here is each kind, with what your answer changes.

On this page
Taxably only asks a question whose answer changes something. If the client's prior-year return settles a point, you are not asked.
Where a document belongs
Is this a Schedule C? A 1099-NEC from a gig platform could be business income or not. "Yes, Schedule C" files it with its pages in the Schedule C section; "No" keeps it out.
Whose it is
A document whose name or tax ID matches nobody on the return. You choose one of:
- It belongs in (client)'s folder. It is counted on that client's sheet.
- It's (another client)'s, move it there. It moves to that client's folder. Offered when another client goes by the name.
- Not this client's: leave it out. It stays where it is and is left out of every total, with your reason on the sheet.
Until you answer, its amount is kept out of the totals and the sheet says why.
Which tax year
A document that states one year and sits in another year's folder, such as a K-1 for 2025 in the 2026 folder. Your answer decides which year's sheet it is read for.
A locked file
A password-protected PDF. Give the password once. Taxably reads the file and never saves the password.
A figure to check
A box Taxably could not vouch for, with what to check on the paper. If it is an income box, the income total says it is not complete rather than treating the box as zero.
Did this continue?
Last year there was a W-2 from Cedar Supply Co and nothing from them has arrived this year. "It continued" keeps it on the list of things to ask the client for; "No longer applies" removes it from every later sheet. It is a prompt to confirm, never a demand.
Filing status
Asked only when no organizer or prior-year return on file states it. Your answer is printed on the sheet as the status you confirmed.

Client folder type
Whether a folder is a person, a business or information only. See Confirm folders Taxably is not sure about.
